The Service

Built From The Ground Up

A concrete slab is the foundation everything is built on — so we make sure it’s done right from day one. The same principle applies to footings. Whether it’s a strip footing for a new extension, pad footings for a deck, or pier and beam for a sloping block, every footing we pour is formed to specification and built to carry the load above it for decades.

We work closely with builders, engineers and certifiers across the Peninsula — or manage the full process end to end for owner-builder projects.

Footing Types We Pour

Strip Footings

Continuous reinforced concrete footings for walls, extensions and new builds. Formed to engineer specification and sized for the soil conditions and load requirements of your site.

Pier & Beam

Concrete piers drilled or formed into the ground to support beams and suspended slabs. The right choice for sloping blocks, reactive soils and elevated structures.

Pad Footings

Isolated concrete pads for posts, columns, decks and pergolas. Sized to the load and soil bearing capacity — properly engineered where required.

Stumps & Restumping

Concrete stumps for raised timber floor homes. We work with your builder or underpinning contractor to get the level, spacing and bearing depth right.

How It Works

From Engineer Plans To Finished Footing

01

Free Quote

We review the engineer’s plans or assess the site directly. Written fixed-price quote provided before any work starts.

02

Permits & Coordination

We liaise with your builder, engineer and building surveyor. All inspections and hold points scheduled before we mobilise.

03

Excavation

Trenches, pits or pier holes excavated to the required depth and width. Soil assessed on the day and engineer notified if conditions differ from spec.

04

Reinforcement

Steel placed, tied and checked against the engineer’s drawings. Cover blocks set to maintain the specified cover to steel.

05

Pour & Inspect

Concrete placed, rodded and levelled. Engineer or building surveyor inspection completed before backfill where required.

Why Mud Life

Why Choose Us
For Your Footings

Footings are the part of the build no one sees — but they’re the part everything else depends on. We bring the same rigour to every footing pour that we bring to structural slabs, and we work closely with the engineers and certifiers who specify them.

FAQs

Common Questions

For most structural footings — extensions, new builds, retaining walls — yes, an engineer’s specification is required. For deck and pergola pad footings, it depends on the size and load. We’ll let you know at the quoting stage what’s needed and can recommend engineers we work with regularly across the Peninsula.
Depth depends on soil type, load and engineer specification. On the Mornington Peninsula, reactive clay soils often require deeper footings than standard — typically 450mm to 600mm or more. We assess this at the quoting stage and work to your engineer’s specification.
Yes. Pier and beam systems are well suited to sloping sites and we have extensive experience across the Peninsula’s varied terrain. We’ll assess the site at the quoting stage and recommend the right footing system.
Yes. We schedule all required hold point inspections with your building surveyor or engineer before the pour. We won’t place concrete until the inspection has been completed and signed off.
Pricing depends on footing type, depth, reinforcement specification and site access. We provide fixed written quotes after reviewing your plans or visiting the site. Contact us to arrange a free quote.
We cover the full Mornington Peninsula from Frankston to Flinders, plus Bayside suburbs including Mentone, Moorabbin, Cheltenham and Brighton.
